The water taxi is cheaper and slower, and an island hopper flight is pricier but faster. Both offer beautiful scenery!
Although most visitors prefer the quick and easy flight to San Pedro over the longer, more crowded water taxi ride, you could consider trying one method of transportation on your arrival and the other on your departure, as they are both fun experiences!
Please send us your arrival information if you would like us to meet you when you get to the island to guide you back to the villas.
There are two airlines:
Please don't be too stressed about your tickets - both companies are flexible and accommodating, so you're in great hands!
There are two water taxis:
Golf carts are the primary means of transportation on Ambergris Caye. We suggest you rent a golf cart so you can explore this beautiful island. Secret Beach (a popular tourist attraction) is a 15-minute golf cart ride, and the town is 6.5 miles away (about a 25-minute cart ride). We can recommend a reputable and reliable cart rental company, make the reservation for you, and have your cart waiting when you arrive!
Let us know when you'll be arriving in San Pedro so our staff can meet you. You can follow them on your golf cart rental back to Mangata Villas for check-in. Or, if you want to get here on your own, just follow the round blue signs that say Mangata Villas and Moon Bar after you cross the bridge north of town. There is one main road that you will follow to get to Mangata Villas. You can also find us on Google Maps.
If you opt not to rent a golf cart, please note that taxis are expensive outside town limits. If you take a cab, tell them you are going to 6.5 miles North Road (just past Portofino Beach Resort) and settle on the price before you get in.
